On 12 July, St Leonards Church in Shoreditch once again played host to some of Tower Hamlets’ excellent young musicians. This time it was the turn of two groups – the Tower Hamlets Awards Orchestra and the Tower Hamlets Youth Orchestra – to perform work they had been rehearsing over the past months.
THAMES supports promising young musicians with awards of tuition and the opportunity to play in the The Tower Hamlets Awards Orchestra. The orchestra put on an excellent performance this evening, showcasing pieces they had been working on recently.
The Tower Hamlets Youth Orchestra have had a marvellous opportunity to work with renowned conductor John Andrews over the past few months. Tonight’s performance represented the culmination of their hard work and the programme ranged from Bizet to Wagner, taking in Holst, Saint-Saens and Tchaikovsky, with a Football Medley for the grand finale. Fantastic!
